The Fantaisie-Impromptu in C-sharp Minor, Op. posth. 66 is one of Frédéric Chopin's most famous and technically demanding piano works. Composed in 1834 but published only after the composer's death, it combines the spontaneity of an impromptu with the dramatic scope of a fantasy. Although Chopin himself chose not to publish the work during his lifetime, it has become one of the cornerstones of the Romantic piano repertoire.

The outer sections are driven by brilliant, rapid figurations and the famous rhythmic interplay between the hands, creating a sense of restless energy and virtuosic brilliance. In striking contrast, the central section presents a broad, singing melody of exceptional warmth and lyricism, offering a moment of calm before the turbulent opening material returns. This dramatic balance between passion and reflection, together with its dazzling pianistic writing, has made the work one of Chopin's most enduring masterpieces.
